When I had finished the writing of my book “Tiden är ett barn” 2022, I contemplated over the fact that my view of randomness differs quite a lot from the prevailing view. As a result, I began to write this essay about some common misconceptions about randomness and the different status of future-directed and past-directed probabilities as described by the physicist Satosi Watanabe and the philosophers Elliott Sober and Frank Arntzeninius the physicist Satosi and the philosophers of science Frank Arntzenius, Elliott Sober and Andrew Holster. To my surprise, this lead to some rather far-reaching conclusions about shortcomings of the prevailing laws of physics, and I, therefore, consider it as a very important result of my analysis of the concept of randomness.
